Finding Wildlife During Lockdown

Although we’re still learning about the benefits of social media for best-selling authors over here at “Henry central”- we are loving the incredible images many photographers are willing to share online! For those of us who don’t get to see the quaint villages of the Cotswolds every day, it’s lovely to enjoy the uplifting and somewhat nostalgic views I’m finding on Instagram. Here’s a lovely shot of Castle Combe captured by @_fromthewild_

For people like Jo - there are so many incredible flowers to marvel at…how about these trilliums?

And for anyone with little Henry fans in the house, (or if you just love cute wildlife shots!) I highly recommend @thebritishwildlife. Look what they shared for their most loved photos of 2020.

Looks like Mum has her storylines just right as Henry the Field Mouse encounters a squirrel, hedgehog, water vole, fox, owl, and of course several other mice on his adventures!

So, take your Henry fans on a nature walk on Instagram if lockdown is preventing you from exploring the hedgerows in person right now. And remember, due to the wonders of online algorithms – once you start looking at posts of adorable wildlife, Instagram will magically find many more for you to scroll through with a cup of tea in hand on a cold and rainy afternoon!!

I am definitely enjoying the excuse of internet research to be scouring the airwaves for links to other nature-loving folks and getting lost in daydreams of nostalgia for country lanes and long walks through muddy fields. No wonder Mum felt motivated to share a little slice of England with her grandchildren all those years ago, long before the days when internet searches could reveal the hidden corners of the English countryside to nature lovers across the globe.

Here’s looking forward to spring!
